Suggestions during your stay

Feeding - It can be useful some advice in alimentary matter. With the new warm and humid atmosphere, it is suggested to reduce the fat and proteins quantity (meat, eggs, fish) and to increase the food that contains carbohydrates (sugar, fruit, starch).
The hygiene of the food and of the feeding varies while our stay lapses in the hotel, or in urban areas controlled from the sanitary point of view, or if we rushed into exotic adventures to the interior of the tropical countries.
Generalizing the well-cooked food is not dangerous as it is not the peeled fruit, but the one unpeeled and the several salad types must be ate only after a good wash.
The food in these areas has a tendency to alter (and to rot) quickly and it is therefore advisable to observe its taste and color. An accurate food protection from the flies or other insects is also essential and you will remain far from the called "Montezuma revenges" (intestinal disorders, the classic and banal traveler's diarrhea").
Evidently, it is very captivating and tempting a middle oriental bazaar with its spices scents and flavors, the smoky kebab skews, the dates, a little market in an African indigenous town with its panoply of pineapples, mangos, avocados, bananas and hot doughnuts, where a small taste comes spontaneous. But it is better to adhere oneself to the old English proverb "better safe than sorry".

Milk - Not pasteurized it must always be boiled and, inside the country, it is preferable to carry cans of condensed milk.

Drinks - It is recommended to drink a lot to compensate the loss of corporal liquids that takes place through the perspiration process. The dehydration effects are slowly established with fatigue and irritability and can be really unpleasant.
Remember always to drink a lot: water, it is better if it is in encapsulated bottles, fresh or uncanned fruit juices, watery tea while the alcohol, apart from a good fresh beer, it must be always drunk at night and in moderate quantities.

Salts - Referring to the dehydration, it will be advisable the consumption of the mineral salts that our organism loses with the perspiration. The muscular pains in the arms and in the legs that often can arise in these climates constitute a first warning of mineral salts deficit in the body, but are mended easily like it has been said previously, with a salt contribution. In the middle oriental area and in the Indian subcontinent it is used to drink the " lassi " that is yogurt with fresh water and with a tiny piece of cooking salt; the delicate palates can substitute the salt with sugar. The writer here remembers that forty years ago in Congo was always present at the table the flask with the saline restorer that was simply constituted by marine salt compresses sold in the pharmacies! Fortunately today we have at disposition a great variety of restorers to dissolve in water (Reidrax, etc).

Vitamins - Are advised by some colleagues but, in the countries that concern us, the quantity and the variety of fruits and of fresh vegetables of each type are such that to be loaded when leaving of vitamin flasks is an absurd practice.
